Café Cubano, a family restaurant based in Elmwood Park, IL, will participate at the First Annual Festival Cubano on August 7th and 8th, 2010, at Riis Park (on Fullerton and Narragansett). The event is free. All visitors are encouraged to share in the Cuban tradition, music, and culinary delights.
“We are excited and looking forward to promoting the taste of old Cuba as my father knew it,” said Javier Fernández Jr, owner and head chef of Café Cubano.
All the recipes had come from his father Javier Sr who passed away in 2009, leaving all his knowledge and love for Cuban cooking to his son and family.
The family carries on the Cuban tradition and high standard of authenticity Javier Sr. set in his recipes.
“Dad taught us about his Cuba through his cooking,” said Javier Jr. “These are Dad’s recipes. We cook food the way Dad cooked it.”
And now Chicago will have a chance to taste the unique flavors of old Cuba at the Festival Cubano.
